Mold Cleanup Guide
Guidance for safely addressing mold contamination in homes and buildings.
Understanding Mold Contamination: A Mold Cleanup Guide
Mold growth can occur when excess moisture is present inside a home or building. When identified early, smaller areas of mold contamination can sometimes be cleaned safely by property owners using proper precautions and cleaning methods.
NTX Enviro created this mold cleanup guide to provide general information and best practices for addressing minor mold-impacted areas.
Important Notes:
- This guide is not a mold remediation protocol and does not replace the services of a licensed professional.
- Homeowners are legally allowed to perform mold cleanup on their own property under Texas Occupations Code ยง1958.102.
- If a contractor or company is hired to perform remediation involving 25 contiguous square feet or more, Texas law requires the work to be performed by a licensed Mold Remediation Contractor following a protocol prepared by a licensed Mold Assessment Consultant.
- NTX Enviro recommends consulting a licensed professional for larger projects or whenever uncertainty exists regarding safety or proper procedures.
Recommended Cleanup Practices
Products and supplies used for minor mold cleanup are commonly available at most home improvement stores.
